Gnarls' digital sales are "Crazy"
First single from wryly named pairing of soulman Cee-Lo and producer Danger Mouse could become the UK's first chart-topping single based solely on download sales.
UK music downloaders are going crazy over Gnarls Barkley.

Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy"
The pairing of Southern rapper/singer Cee-Lo and Gorillaz producer Danger Mouse, comically named to sound like legendary NBA star Charles Barkley, is set to make music history Sunday by having the first single to hit the top of the charts as a download only--without the benefit of a physical release.
If the duo garner the top slot on the UK singles chart, it will be due in part to a recent rule change by the Official UK Charts Company to let download sales count toward chart positioning, even if a physical release isn't out yet. The group now lets download sales be considered--as long as physical copies of the single go on sale the following week.
"Crazy" hits UK stores next Monday and US stores April 10, while the duo's album, St. Elsewhere, hits the streets May 9 on the Downtown/Atlantic label.
Music retailer HMV told BBC News that "Crazy" was its fastest-selling music download ever.

Any questions?
"Crazy" has been playing on BBC's Radio 1 for months.
It should be a huge summer for Gnarls, with scheduled performances in the US at both Coachella April 30 and Lollapalooza August 5 and in the UK at the Wireless festival in both Leeds and London's Hyde Park, as well as the Creamfields Festival in August and the Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland on September 3.
"We are the perfect combination," Cee-Lo said last year as word of the duo began to spread. "This album is one of the best platforms for me to express all of me. I get to expand my range and hit all categories from urban, crossover, pop, and rock and roll."
