U2 to take Vertigo down under
Irish rockers extend current tour into 2006 and unveil four dates in Australia and one in New Zealand; tour also expected to stop in South America, Mexico, and Japan.
One of the biggest tours of 2005 will keep going well into 2006.
Irish rock quartet U2 has extended its Vertigo tour into next year and announced four dates in Australia and one in New Zealand. The tour, in support of its 2004 album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, will kick off in February and also include shows in South America, Mexico, and Japan, the band said on its Web site.
The run of shows in Australia, including stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney, is the band's first trip down under in eight years. The band's last appearance in Australia was during its PopMart tour in 1998.
U2 will celebrate St. Patty's Day with a show at Auckland's Ericsson Stadium, its first appearance in New Zealand since December 1993.
Tickets, priced between $99 and $199, go on sale on December 5.
