My Morning Jacket cancels Euro tour
Citing illness of lead singer Jim James, Kentucky alt-country band bails on 16-stop early 2006 tour and New Year's Eve gig with Black Crowes at Madison Square Garden.
My Morning Jacket, one of the "it" bands of 2005, has canceled its European tour set for early 2006 and pulled out of a New Year's Eve show with the Black Crowes at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In a posting on its Web site, the band said lead singer and guitarist Jim James had fallen ill due to "health complications related to pneumonia."
The tour, in support of the band's critically acclaimed album, Z, was set to begin January 18 in Birmingham, England, and take the band across the UK and to Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
"The band would like to extend their sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause," the band said in the posting. "My Morning Jacket hopes to reschedule the European dates as soon as Jim is fully recovered and able to perform. We thank you for your understanding."
