Gwen Stefani preps new album
No Doubt frontwoman says sophomore solo album will come out this year, as will a live concert DVD.
After taking much of 2006 off to have her first child with husband Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani said today that she's at work on a new solo album that will hit stores this year, as will a live concert DVD called The Harajuku Lovers Live.

In a post on her Web site, the No Doubt frontwoman said she's "hard at work finishing up some new material, hoping to have a brand-new album out before the end of the year."
The album will be the follow-up to 2004's Love Angel Music Baby, which has sold 3.8 million copies in the US, according to Nielsen Soundscan. That album and the tour that followed catapulted Stefani far beyond the popularity she'd attained with No Doubt.
The new album, rumored to be dubbed Sweet Escape, will contain production from Pharrell Williams, Akon, Swizz Beatz, and No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, all of whom produced tracks on Love Angel Music Baby.
"There's a lot of songs that were left over from the last album, and there's some new songs I did with Pharrell," Stefani told MTV News. "There's a lot of Pharrell on this record. I did some stuff with Tony and some stuff with Akon."

One of those leftover songs is reportedly "Breakin' Up" featuring Slim Thug, whose collaboration with Beyonce on "Check On It" landed a 2006 MTV Video Music Award for best R&B video.
Stefani's Web site post also said that a concert DVD, Harajuku Lovers Live, will hit stores this year as well. The DVD was shot at Arrowhead Pond in Stefani's hometown of Anaheim, California, and was directed by Stefani friend Sophie Muller.
And as previously reported, Stefani will release her own line of dolls based on different looks that the singer and her Harajuku Girl dancers sported during her world tour.
