Ready or Not, here come The Fugees

With new album slated for early 2006, reunion continues with European tour.

Nearly a decade after The Fugees' groundbreaking The Score set the hip-hop world ablaze and sent the trio off in solo directions, their long-rumored reunion is taking shape.

With a new studio album slated for early 2006 and the single "Take It Easy" released via Apple's iTunes music store in September, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michael have booked a European tour.

The tour's opening show Nov. 30 in Vienna will be the group's first performance together since November 1997, when The Fugees were the biggest act in music. The Score went on to sell more than 17 million copies worldwide.

The three-week tour kicks off Nov. 30 and includes stops in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Italy, and the UK, with the final scheduled stop Dec. 20 in Switzerland.

At the height of their popularity in the late 1990s, The Fugees broke up to pursue solo careers, which included Hill's critically acclaimed The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which won five Grammys. Jean has released five solo albums, including 1997's The Carnvial, with varying degrees of critical and popular success, while Michael has had far less success in both his solo musical and acting efforts.

After multiple solo world tours following Miseducation, a disillusioned Hill took time off, spending time with husband Rohan Marley, son of famed reggae legend Bob Marley, and their four children. Hill also has two stepchildren.

In 2002, Hill released Unplugged 2.0, a double CD following her emotional solo acoustic performance on the MTV show. The album received mixed reviews, with many panning it for being unfocused and unpolished.

After years apart, the group made a surprise appearance together at the Dave Chappelle Block Party in summer 2004. They performed again in June at the BET Awards and released "Take it Easy" in September.

The planned new album does not yet have a title.
