Korn to take fans to "Other Side"
In promotional run-up to new album release, alt-metal rockers will take 40 contest winners on a chartered plane from London to NYC for a concert at Hammerstein Ballroom.
Korn is pulling out all the stops to promote its new album, See You On the Other Side, set for a December 6 release.
The band will make its first-ever performance in a US television studio when it plays tomorrow night on Saturday Night Live, hosted by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria. The alt-metal quartet will play "Twisted Transistor," the first single off the new album.
Korn will then head off to London, where an MTV Europe contest will award 40 fans representing seven European countries--the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Holland--with a trip with Korn back to the US. The lucky fans will travel with the band on a chartered jet from London to New York City and attend a November 29 Korn performance at Hammerstein Ballroom.
MTV is taping the performance for a half-hour special that will air on MTV2 on December 3 at 9:30 p.m. and December 6 at 10:30 a.m.
"We've talked about doing something like this for a while," singer Jonathan Davis told MTV.com. "We'd talked about getting on a plane and playing eight different countries in 24 hours. But it just seemed cool to get some fans and fly 'em in and do a special show."
The band released an EP this week exclusively through Apple's iTunes music store. It includes a live recording of "Twisted Transistor" from Russia, as well as two other tracks from Other Side.
