Test Icicles have meltdown
Critically lauded UK band decides to call it quits after just one album and in the midst of a lengthy international tour.
Test Icicles, we hardly knew ya.
US fans yearning to catch a live glimpse of the Test Icicles, a UK trio that drew critical praise with the spastic rock of their debut album, For Screening Purposes Only, will have to wait for the next big thing.
The band has called it quits, canceling its upcoming US tour, including a stop at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, as well as its scheduled performance at the NME Awards show in London this Friday.
The band issued a statement, saying that they "have just come off a European tour and are exhausted from the constant pressures of touring--subsequently they have cancelled their show at the NME Awards show this Friday and US tour. The band will play their UK tour in April, but there are currently no plans to make another album or tour beyond this."
The band recently denied rumors of their demise.
Despite the abrupt end of the fledgling band, Test Icicles will still play a string of previously scheduled shows in the UK in mid-April. The band's label, Domino Records, will release an EP from the band, Circle. Square. Triangle., featuring B-sides and remixes, in the US later this year.
