Coldplay: You F***in' Shot That!
UK rockers will take a page from Beastie Boys and hand over digital video camera to lucky fans in Toronto for a concert DVD.
With a tip of the hat to the Beastie Boys, Coldplay said today that it will be giving five fans in Toronto the chance to film footage for a live concert DVD later this month.
Much in the way the Beasties doled out 50 digital cameras to fans to film footage for the concert documentary Awesome: I F***in' Shot That, Coldplay said it will use footage from five fans to supplement its own high-definition footage for its sold-out March 22 and 23 shows at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.
The contest begins Monday, March 6. Fans can enter by watching Entertainment Tonight Canada, listening for the "Coldplay Song of the Night," and then logging on to Global TV's Web site.
"Several of our all-time favourite gigs have happened in Canada, so what better place to film our shows," front man Chris Martin said in a statement.
Coldplay is in the midst of its North American tour, and it'll head to Australia in June and to Japan in July.
The band caused a ruckus last month when Martin hinted at an extended hiatus for the band while accepting a Brit Award. The band subsequently said it plans to hole up in a studio later this year to work on its follow-up to its smash hit X&Y. Coldplay plans to release "The Hardest Part," the fourth single from X&Y, in April.
