MP3 News Breakers: 50 vs. Diddy, Doherty, Mafia, Kasabian

Fiddy puts Bad Boy chief on blast; Babyshambles frontman gets sentencing deferred; Oscar winners seek lawsuit dismissal; Kasabian rips Timberlake, Stones; Isley gets three years for tax evasion.

50 Cent releases Diddy diss track

Window shoppers. Window shoppers.

Unwilling to release his former protégé Mase from his recording contract, Diddy has drawn the ire of 50 Cent, and the beefcake rapper has put the Bad Boy mogul on notice. Late last week, Fiddy released a Diddy diss track titled "The Bomb," through New York City-based Hot 97 DJ Kay Slay. Rapping over the haunting beat from Dead Prez's "Hip Hop," 50 rips Diddy for refusing to release Mase, who left the hip-hop game several years ago to become a reverend but recently returned as 50's sidekick, most notably in the video for the rapper's "Window Shopper."

50 also takes the opportunity to weigh in on the 1997 murder of Notorious B.I.G. "Who shot Biggie Smalls/Man if we don't get them they gon' kill us all," 50 raps, reciting the Dead Prez verse verbatim. "Man Puffy know who hit that n***a, man, that n***a saw him. He's scared 'dem boys from the West Side will break him off/Jump on his a**/So he run to Harlem to shake 'em off." Fiddy also warns that he has a secret about Diddy, saying, "I guess this means I won't be invited to the White parties in the Hamptons. I don't give a f***. I don't wanna hang with your punk a** anyway." At the end of the track, 50 says Diddy should reimburse him for Mase's travel costs in recent months, but he eventually seems to lose interest in winning Mase's service at all. "You wanna play games? You don't want to make the deal, n***a? I'll f*** your s*** up n***a... As a matter of fact, I don't want to do the deal no more."

Diddy has yet to officially respond, although some have speculated that the song "Press Play" on Diddy's upcoming album is directed at 50 Cent. In that song, Diddy raps, "I'm richer b***h!/N***as feel it in their gut/If Jay's coming back then the world needs Puff... I recognize n***as trying to copy my style/But never has their been a n***a this fly for this long/N***a I let ya'll eat for this long/Now the king's back on the street."

Doherty sentencing deferred

Pete Doherty Pete Doherty

Impressed by Pete Doherty's progress in battling his drug addictions, a London judge has deferred the sentencing of the Babyshambles frontman by three months. Doherty pleaded guilty last month to four charges of possessing class A drugs including heroin and cocaine and one charge of cannabis possession. The judge granted Doherty release on bail at the time, provided that he reenter the London-based Priory rehab clinic. Doherty did that, and although he's had at least once incident in his stint at Priory, Judge Jane McIvor decided to allow the singer to continue with his current recovery program instead of sentencing him as scheduled. "It's turning out to be a long haul," she said, according to the Associated Press. "I'm impressed with the negative results for heroin and cocaine. It's [a] stage I never thought you'd reach, [and] the option of resentencing you would be counterproductive." Sentencing has been rescheduled for December 4. "I understand the sentencing," Doherty said. "I just want my life back."

Three 6 Mafia looks to get suit dismissed

Three 6 Mafia Three 6 Mafia

Winning an Oscar hasn't made Three 6 Mafia immune to lawsuits. The Memphis rap outfit, which picked up an Academy Award earlier this year for the song "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from the film Hustle & Flow, is asking a Pennsylvania court to dismiss a lawsuit against them. The lawsuit was filed in 2003 by Ramone Williams, who claims the group's lyrics incited violence at a 2003 club show in Pittsburgh. Williams alleged the group's song "Let's Start a Riot" incited fans to do just that, and Williams says he was thrown to the floor, hit with a chair, stomped on, and kicked in the face. His injuries included a fractured jaw. An attorney for the group filed a motion last week in Allegheny County Court saying there is no "genuine issue of material fact" to the complaint. The lyrics are protected under the First Amendment, the motion said.

Kasabian lash out at Timberlake, Rolling Stones

Kasabian Kasabian

UK rockers Kasabian are no fans of Justin Timberlake, and although they opened for the Rolling Stones on the group's A Bigger Bang tour, they think the legendary rockers should be at home sipping tea instead. With their new album Empire vying for the top slot in the UK with Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds, Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan called Timberlake a "midget" and a "puppet."

"He's a midget with whiskers who is just trying to be black," he said. "He's a puppet in a million-dollar suit who's had his strings cut off. It's just money music. Absolute rubbish. You can smell the money coming off it. He's a knobhead." Bassist Chris Edwards chimed in as well, saying, "SexyBack? More like hairy back. It's the worst title of any record I've ever heard!" As for the Stones, the Kasabian boys aren't quite as harsh as they reminisced about opening for the Stones earlier this year in Europe. "All I remember is Mick coming up and saying, 'I heard you had a storm, you f***er.' And Keith said hello. But it was weird because they are granddads. They should be drinking cups of tea in their armchairs."

Isley gets three years for tax evasion

Ronald Isley Ronald Isley

Mr. Biggs is heading to the slammer. Ronald Isley, founding member of the Isley Brothers who has seen his career revived in recent years due to his Mr. Biggs alter ego that he and R. Kelly created, has been sentenced to three years and one month in prison for tax evasion. The 65-year-old R&B singer was also ordered to pay $3.1 million in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. Isley was convicted last year of five counts of tax evasion and one count of willful failure to file a tax return. "The term serial tax avoider has been used," US District Judge Dean Pregerson said, according to Reuters. "I think that's appropriate."
