Jurassic 5 prep album, tour
LA hip-hop collective will hit the road for a nearly three-month US tour in support of Feedback, which hits stores July 25.

J5
With a new album and a nearly three-month tour on the way, LA's inimitable Jurassic 5 is ready to "take it back to the days of yes y'all-in'" once again.
The hip-hop collective--MCs Chali 2na, Zaakir (Soup), Akil, and Marc 7 and DJs Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark--will hit the road July 18, kicking off a lengthy tour at the Showbox in Seattle and finishing up September 13 at House of Blues in Las Vegas. The run includes two-night stops at the Fillmore in San Francisco and the House of Blues in West Hollywood.
The tour comes in support of a new album, Feedback, which hits stores July 25. The album will be preceded by the single "Work It Out," a collaboration with the Dave Matthews Band spawned from the two group's time together on the Vote for Change tour prior to the 2004 presidential election.
"It's a step up for us because we have been basically known as an underground group," Soup, one of the group's four emcees, said in a statement. "We've been known as a backpacker group. This album still has elements of that because that's who we are, but at the same time, we are also trying to step into another realm."

Jurassic 5's
Feedback
Group DJ/producer Nu-Mark continues to handle the bulk of the production on the new album, but a handful of prominent producers also join the fold for Feedback. Radio-friendly producer and one-time Paris Hilton arm candy Scott Storch produces the song "Brown Girl," while Salaama Remi, producer for Nas and The Fugees, worked on the tracks "Radio" and "Get It Together."
