Info

Given that Bachdenkel's superb debut Lemmings is a lost classic of melancholy guitar rock, it's no surprise that their long-delayed (recorded in 1975) follow-up album simply couldn't match its predecessor. It's not for lack of trying; the CD reissue is stuffed to the gills with material, doubling the length of the original LP while adding a comprehensive collection of unreleased singles, live studio versions, demos, and bootleg recordings. For that reason alone, most Bachdenkel fans will want to track this release down. But there are only a few real gems on here, most notably "Xenophon," which opens with an unadorned and unaccompanied vocal and builds up to a rousing conclusion of ragged harmonies, descending basslines, and a chiming piano. ~ Paul Collins, All Music Guide
